Almost every provider in this market sells you one route and never mentions the other. Mochi publishes both, on one page, with real numbers.
Its published grid runs from $13 metformin through compounded semaglutide at $60 and compounded tirzepatide at $90, to Wegovy Pill and Foundayo at $149, Ozempic at $199, Wegovy and Zepbound at $299, and Mounjaro at $499 — all under a $79 monthly membership.
So branded Wegovy is $378 a month all-in against $139 for compounded semaglutide. That $239 monthly gap is the entire branded-versus-compounded decision, stated in public by a company that profits either way.
What the gap actually buys
An FDA-approved product with manufacturer-controlled quality and the trial evidence the compounded market borrows. Compounded semaglutide is not evaluated by FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality, and FDA has warned specifically about salt forms that Mochi does not address.
What Mochi adds over NovoCare is the clinical layer: unlimited physician and care team access, 24/7 support, and registered dietitian access included in the $79 membership rather than sold separately. For a first prescription that is worth something real.

What Wegovy is, and what it costs at source
Wegovy is semaglutide, approved by FDA for chronic weight management. In its registrational programme adults reached a 2.4 mg weekly maintenance dose and lost an average of about 15% of body weight over 68 weeks, with roughly one in three achieving 20%. It is also approved to reduce cardiovascular risk in adults with established cardiovascular disease, which is the narrow route by which Medicare can cover it at all.
The number that should anchor every Wegovy quote is Novo Nordisk's own self-pay price. NovoCare publishes tablets at $149 a month, the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg injections at $199, the 1 mg to 2.4 mg maintenance doses at $349, and the 7.2 mg at $399 — with no membership and no prior authorisation.
Before you buy branded from a reseller
- Check the manufacturer's own price first — NovoCare for Wegovy, LillyDirect for Zepbound. Resale prices range across an order of magnitude.
- Establish whether a membership or programme fee is charged on top of the medication.
- Ask what the price is at your expected maintenance dose, since branded pricing usually rises with dose.
- If you have type 2 diabetes, ask about Ozempic or Mounjaro through insurance before paying cash for anything.
- Confirm whether the provider will submit a prior authorisation, and what happens if it is denied.
